We walk to the bridge for a look.

A wide lazy area of the Niobrara narrows to the "Norden Chute" under the bridge

This is the town of Sparks, NE, where I asked the proprietor if they have a gas station.

She pointed to the lone free-standing pump, where I filled up nicely.

   In July, 2012, a wild fire burned through the Niobrara Valley.
   Some of the birch trees ended up barkless and beautifully silver.

The town called Meadville IS this restaurant, no Post Office, no General Store, just good food.
